What a beautiful day....

Spirit Lifter Quote of the Day:
"Live near to God, and all things will appear little to you in comparison with eternal realities"

What a beautiful day it has been! Lyza and I have spent most of our morning/mid morning out in the field just running, playing and giggling! How I love spring and into summer! What a spirit lifter it is to get outside! We have so much going on this weekend and I am so excited! Tonight Madisyn has soccer practice, so while Chris is coaching and Madisyn is playing....I will get to play in the park with Lyza. Thursday Chris is off work and we are getting the gravel to go in our landscaping and putting out all the fun, summer stuff! Hammock, Picnic Table, Sandbox, Summer Toys...etc! We are also on the lookout for a swing set to complete the yard this year! We will also be painting our porch and possibly around all our windows if I can set my eyes on just the right color! I am tossing up between black and hunter green...I just can't make up my mind, and I know it is a semi-permanant choice for many years....so I have to choose carefully.

On Friday we will be heading to Lake Lincoln to spend the day. We intend to take the girls out on paddleboats, hike, Lincoln Memorial, picnic and sand volleyball! We could not get camping reservations...so we will head back home to the Melvin Gardens to set up camp for a couple of nights. The weather is supposed to be soooo nice, so I am really looking forward to the time outside! On Saturday we will be heading to a local egg hunt, believe it or not...this will be Lyza's first egg hunt. I know, I'm a terrible mom!

On Easter Sunday we will head to church and then my parents plan on coming down for the afternoon. It will be nice to have their company and it may just be so nice out that they can ride their motorcycle down!

My blog shall be redone tomorrow as well...and I am looking forward to that! It is always nice to see what Jennifer comes up with......she's so creative! If you need a "Blog Lifter" for the spring/summer....check her out....Just click on "The Blog Cafe" on my side tabs! You can't go wrong.....she's great!

Appreciating What you HAVE.....

Better one handful of Tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. ~ Ecclesiastes 4:6

"Appreciate What You Have"

When it comes to what you have - and don't have - gratitude is largely a choice. It all boils down to where you fix your focus. Instead of being envious of others, feeling discontent and unhappy, you can choose to be thankful.

Spend a few minutes each morning reflecting on the blessings God has given you. No matter what shape your home is in, begin to thank God for a secure shelter, a place to stay warm and dry. If you don't have a reliable car, thank Him for brining the bus route so close to your house. Thank Him for the basics: food on the table, a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, a way to earn a living.

Thank Him also for those blessings that are not material in nature, such as health, a sound mind, the love of family and friends. Finally, remember that if you belong to God through faith in Jesus, you have also received God's greatest, most important blessings: His constant presence with you on earth and the promise of eternity with Him in heaven.

Many people watch their lives slip through their fingers while they whine about all they are missing. They acknowledge only the negatives. Focusing on the positives has two effects: it allows you to be grateful for what you have while boosting your faith to believe that with God's help things will get better. Gratitude comes from knowing God is on your side and will provide everything you really need.

A week in the life of...US! :-)

Our week in photos!!

What a crazy week it has been...and my how it seemed to fly by! Last weekend we kept Juliana and Amaya (Madisyn did)...and we did a nice Easter Photo shoot, but must admit (oh how I hate this part), my camera got left outside, and it rained....therefore, it was ruined, no fixing it and I have been beside myself. Mainly because that was a lot of money down the drain....AND....my moneymaker! So...these photos were all taken with Maddy's camera and this weekend Chris and I are on the prowl to get a new one so that I can get back to work!

Brian, Christine, Lia and Lilly....came to visit last weekend and we had a great time with them. Madisyn had her last indoor soccer game last Saturday then turned around and had her first outdoor practice for the Spring Season on Tues.

It was "Spirit Week" at school and I have added pic's of each day of Spirit Week dress up, then my friend Jennifer made a collage for me to print for Madisyn before she left to go to Pennyslvania for Spring Break. It is officially Spring Break, I spent a few days at my parents, no kids.....just me, mom and dad. I am home now though and it was great to walk through the door and see Lyza's smile and her yelling "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy". Nothing like a welcome home wagon like that!

I was so worn out....but Chris and I made it to Rural King to stock up on all the pet supplies and get a few gardening supplies as well.....the free popcorn and coffee is always a perk! :-) Had a pot of Veggie Soup made for dinner last night and then went to Dairy Queen for dessert. Can't top that I guess! I will have many more pic's to post, especially if I get my new camera this weekend or beginning of next week!!

Have a blessed Week!

Don't let the little things get to you.....

"Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."

~~~James 1:19-20
This is often easier said than done, but I happened to buy a little card yesterday with a ladybug on it to laminate and put in Lyza's room to go with her ladybug theme! This was laying right on the counter, just as I needed it as subtle reminder from God that I was not obeying HIM, and that I was not leading the day as I should have been. I was quick to speak, quick to be angry and very harsh with my words. Shame on me...... thank you God, for reminding me in such a small way, on such a small little card that we can get to caught up in the worries of life, that we forget to be thankful for the small things we need to be grateful for! What a day, What a lesson......PTL we have a forgiving God!
FFF- "Green"
FFF's theme is "Green" this week in honor of St. Patrick's Day....however, Madisyn has not had her spirit week yet, so I don't have any photos of the girls in their St. Patty's Day decor! However, I did buy Madisyn her annual hat and beads last night for her "Green Spirit Day" for next week.....only to discover the beads were little beer cans. Whoops...guess she won't be wearing those to school! LOL....ugg, that is just a mistake I would make! She found it pretty comical though! I do have photos though of Spring Greenery popping up, OH how I LOVE to see that popping up......I love spring and the newness it brings! I also have photos of "George", the green iguana that we took this week! He is about 2 yrs old and getting pretty big...... Chris says it is time for a new cage for him again! My grandfather , George, bought me my first iguana when I was 15 yrs old. When Madisyn was born I gave it to a friend....my mom was terrified of salmonela poisioning, so I gave him up. Who knew it would run in the family and Madisyn would someday want one! He's been a good iguana....he has his moments where he's not so happy and wants to whip the tail, but all in all, he is pretty tame and we like him! I hope the warmer weather is being kind to everyone and lifting your spirits. The winter blahs can take a toll on a person very easily! I had a picnic lunch and got to wear shorts one day this week when it reached 75 degrees out.....oh how much fun that was! Then we played until after dark outside once Madisyn got home from school and track practice!! We are going to have a wonderful weekend with family visiting and Madisyn is babysitting for Juliana and Amaya and I'll be doing some Easter Photos this weekend......I will be sure and post pic's of my beautiful nieces and our time with Jules and Amaya!!! We've got some fun things in store for the day tomorrow....... last indoor soccer game as well!
Have a blessed week!!!
Lyza's new room!!!
Lyza finally got her new "BuggaBabies... aka Ladybugs" room complete!!! It is sooo cute, don't you think??? It is so bright and cheerful! There are just a few finishing touches to put on it. I am having a custom made Ladybug name plate with her full name "Louisa" made on it and had a three custom made mesh ladybugs to hang on the wall. I ordered three Ladybug wall hangings that I just thought were cute and low and behold they were the EXACT pattern of her comforter set. I am putting a ladybug "L" decal in the middle of her headboard and some ladybug decals around it on the headboard. They are so cute....and I can't wait to get them finished. There is a valance to put up on her curtains also, we just need to get the rod. Wow, and I thought I was almost finished until I just typed all that! I guess it is fun stuff, so it doesn't seem like too much work! She loves her "big girl" bed and even asks to go to bed and take a nap.....how lucky am I? She loves for Madisyn to lay down with her also and "pretend" sleep......and I'm more than sure she would just let her fall asleep with her at night also! Getting her room done inspired Madisyn to start cleaning her room and getting rid of some junk....I mean "treasures". For this, I am thankful....she really needs to declutter, as she has tendency to save everything under the sun! I think she gets this from me....but I have been on a major decluttering spree also. I even started in on the basement because we intend to finish it up this spring! I've gotten 1/2 half done and it is livable.....now to declutter the other 1/2 and make it livable! New floors and walls, plus some waterproofing! I will be happy for the extra room!
We have had a pretty awesome day! I have some girls over spending the night with Madisyn.... we had a bonfire tonight and cooked hot dogs and smores. Madisyn had a soccer game today and her soccer party. I took Lyza to the mall to ride the carousel, did a bit of book shopping at the Christian bookstore and ran some other errands! It was 52 degrees today and supposed to be 60 degrees tomorrow, so that is putting us all in a better mood!!! I'm ready for Spring.....bring it on baby!!!
Braggin' on Maddy.....
  • I have really wanted to post all week about our wonderful weekend with "Nonny" and all the grandkids! What a hootin' good hollerin" time we had. Literally.....I don't think any of them know the meaning of "Shhhh" :-)
  • They all came to Evansville since Madisyn had a soccer game. We stayed at Drury Inn and Suites on the East side of town and it was very nice. Light dinner and snacks served (Popcorn and Cola beverages until 10 pm) and a full morning breakfast!
  • We then headed to the Children's Museum (CMOE) and had an awesome time. Chris joined us for this and I am more than sure he was thrilled....he's like a kid himself in those places, one of the many reasons I love him. We then went to Maddy's soccer game where she scored 3 goals!!!! Way to kick Boy Butt!!!!
  • Awesome job Madisyn!
  • So....the real reason for this post is to tell you about "Read Across America". The highlight to Madisyn was the dance teams boy/girl dance that they had been practicing on for awhile (great job Dylan). They did an awesome job, video is below in an older post. They also made up lyrics about books to a popular song that is on the radio!(can't think of the song right now).....after a few educational and informational speeches by the Sheriff, Local DJ, Christian Harley Rider who promotes reading and also helps with clothing Veteras -- Mr. Perry, the Principal-- was escorted into the gym by an entourage of Evansville Police Dept. Cycles. Pretty cute idea!
  • On to the good stuff:
  • Madisyn won awards! She won for most pages read for her grade and recived a $20.00 giftcard to "Borders" bookstore!! She won movie passes, got a certificate and a Medal that she is very proud of! Way to go Madisy. I am so glad you love to read (so do I....and so does Lyza already) We have a little bit different tastes in what we like to read, but some of the stuff is right on cue so we can share!
Again....WaY tO gO mAdIsYn - We ArE sO pRoUD oF YoU!!!!!!
I took Madisyn and Devin to have their nail and toenails done today after school so that Madisyn could use her giftcard! Always nice to treat yourself...and she deserved it!! Cool BRIGHT colors, HUH?
Maddy Moo- Showing off her medal!
Who knew a new pair of sunglasses, bandana and a medal could make a girl so happy!!! That's my girl!!!
She's very proud of that medal, as she should be....she read I "think" 1069 pages in the alloted time frame for that medal!!!
Does she kind resemble Paw in that bandana, glasses and Harley Shirt?????
Yep, I do believe so.....
All her awards.....It was actully Dr. Seuss' Birthday on this day also! I'm thinking 100 yrs, but I could be off on that too!!
WAY TO GO MADISYN RONELLE KLEINFELTER
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU....KEEP ON READING....KEEP ON BEING YOU! REACH FOR THE STARS...THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!!!
I love you to the moon and back!
