Valentine Dance

So my little girl had her first Valentine Dance tonight! She also had a slumber party to go to with about 10 other girls...what fun!! She called and it sounded like a sure fine thing to be at!! Here are a few photos I took before the event......glad they go early and end early! Eases a mothers mind a bit......glad they had fun!!

As you know, I have had a lot of favorite "fotos" this week.....with teeth pulling, lizard biting, crazy hair days...etc! However, here are a few more of my favorite snapshots....I especially love the one where Lyza is drooling on Chris head! Talk about "priceless"!

Contrasting Photos.....ha!

Ok....so we all know that my adorable Guatemalan Princess has rather "unusual" hair. It is a treat each and every day because you never know what you are going to get, or how it is going to turn out. I went to pick up her photos yesterday and isn't this just the most adorable photo?? I was so happy with it.

Then I came home to find this...........her pigtails had been taken out and this is what we had! What a trip! Yes....be my guest and click on it to enlarge it so you can REALLY see it!

Nonetheless she is an angel.....regardless if her hair is fixed .....or uh, not fixed! It is an adventure that is for sure. I couldn't help posting this though. I got a good kick out of it!! Our day has gone pretty normal as compared to yesterday with the lizard incident! Have a blessed evening!

Peek Only if you Dare.....

Yes...this is what it looks like. A lizard biting my hand so hard he is hanging in mid air? Some of you....may find this unusual. In our house...this is pretty much every day life! Here is the story for this little episode though.

As I was cleaning other parts of the house I heard a "thud". Not unusual in our house either so I went about my business. I finally got to Maddy's room and found the lizard cage once again knocked off the stand and upside down on the floor with a huge gray cat lurking over it like he'd just found some really nice treat! When I moved the cage to pick it up, "Speedy Gonzales" scatters away as fast as he can onto Maddy's stuffed animals. I calmly pick him up (I have years of experience with iguanas and as a vet assistant!).....but at the same time, all his live crickets are jumping around everywhere. So in one hand, I have "Speedy Gonzales" secure and in the other hand I am catching live crickets to put back in his cage. About then.....Smokey the cat (who I will add is about 18 lbs and as lazy and slow as they get.....UNTIL he sees something he really wants) snatches "Speedy" right out of my hand and runs into our kitchen with him. All the while I am chasing him with live crickets still in the other hand!!! I got to the kitchen where the cat was hiding with the lizard in his mouth and had to pry his mouth open (with ONE hand) and get the little fellow out! Well, this time he didn't know if I was the enemy or the angel. So he bit on the flesh between my thumb and forefinger. He was biting so hard (no, it didn't hurt and made no mark) that he would just hang in mid air. Mind you, I still have live crickets in my other hand. I thought, NO ONE is going to believe this......so I put the crickets back in the cage and of course my camera was handy....so I snapped these photos. I then cleaned up his cage, the mess on the floor and CLOSED her door so that it would not happen again. I believe if it happens a third time he may not survive!!! Those are some fast cats when something is on the loose! They just lay on that shelf and just watch him like he is a piece of tuna or something! So...she has GOT to keep that door closed and those cats out (they love to lay on her warm waterbed)...or the lizard will be no more.

And he thinks I do nothing all day long! Praise the Lord Lyza was down for a nap. The entire time I was having this fiasco was supposed to be my "downtime"...."naptime"......but I had to pretend to be Steve Irwin for an hour while I caught the "beauty" and made its "habitat" livable again....then clean myself up! Never a dull moment!

Many, Many storms again tonight also. It was 72 degrees today! Nice day, but stormy as it gets. Supposed to stay this way until about 2 am. Flooding everywhere....Madisyn said they had to stop using their sinks, water fountains and bathrooms due to back ups. Gross.....probably won't be any school tomorrow if they don't get that fixed!!!

Low Key Morinings and SCREACHING evenings!!

Tornado Tuesday....

Every Tuesday for three weeks now we have had the craziest weather....very high temps for January, dropping to freezing within hours. Today the high is supposed to be 70 degrees......the rain is supposed to change to snow after midnight!!!! At 3 am I had a husband and preteen in bed with me and a one year old in the playpen beside me....plus two dogs at the foot of the bed and not sure where the cats were, I think they stayed in Maddy's bed, as she has a warm waterbed and that is their "hangout". Anyway......Thunderstorms and all that good stuff and the kids were scared. Lyza decided she wasn't scared so proceeded to play and babble as if it were noon...then stood up and started scratching at my feet and legs as if to say "get up mama'...it's playtime". So when Chris' alarm went off at 3:30 I had him take her to her room and she fell back asleep! Maddy is now off to school, though I am sure they will cancel her field trip today due to all the forecasts in the weather. Hail, tornadoes, damaging winds...etc. Every Tuesday for the last three weeks......isn't that weird. So I have strategically placed all the candles and flashlights in case the power goes out and am charging the cell phones. Usually we are one of the first without power, but somehow the last two storms we still had power when everyone around us had none! Mysterious....very mysterious! :-) Above are a couple of sneak peeks of Lyza's photo session at Penny's a few weeks ago!!! I will post more througout the week! Enjoy, stay warm, dry and safe!!!

Now....Seven weird things about me!

1. I stay in my pajamas all day long on most days...or should I say I shower and put on new pajamas!

(Hey....I'm a mama' I can do that right!)

2. I take a freakishly insane number of pictures almost every single day.

3. I hate to diet and love to eat, but try every gimmick in the book.

(Latest, Nutrisystem and am doing pretty well.....Florida Ocean I am coming in May and WILL look good!)

4. I love to travel, but make wherever I am staying look like a house! I'm talking all clothing put away, candles, the whole nine yards!

5. My bathroom tub/shower looks like a Body Shop store. I have WAY too many products to choose from!

6. I am a neat freak....a neat freak on the surface.

(You'd die if you saw my closets, but in my defense I am currently going closet to closet cleaning, tossing and giving away!)

7. I call my mom every single day...sometimes twice or more!

Whoops....I listed like 9 things then realized I only needed to list 7 so took some away!! Wow, that was way to easy! Dang!

Ok....I am no super bowl wife/mom....never have been, never will be! However, I do like the food :-)

I guess I just don't understand the hype of yelling at the TV when the players or coaches REALLY cannot hear you. I guess maybe it just makes guys feel better? I think they have a book out, "Football for Wives" or something so we can understand it? Maybe I need that. I am more than sure they don't have one for "Ballet for Husbands" or something! Oh well..... in anycase I survived the day and event!

My kiddos are doing well....growing every second it seems. I just can't get over how much Lyza learns in such a short period of time, how she is learning to mimick and how funny she is. Did I mention loud? I think she may be an opera singer! She is the LOUDEST screacher I have ever heard. I will download a video tomorrow so you can believe me.....or just ask a relative or friend! They can't get over it either!

We had a pretty low key weekend....Madisyn had two friends stay over last night though and that was fun. We watched "Game Plan" and it made me cry....mainly because of the story plot and I can relate, mainly because Madison (the little girl in the movie who played Peyton) looks so darn much like Lyza with that curly hair and big brown eyes. And just like the movie.....those brown eyes can get a little girl REALLY far!

This morning we went to church then afterwards my mother in law came over while our Madisyn and her friend stayed for the second service class they are in. That was a nice treat to have her over. Then this afternoon we went to Chris' dad's to spend part of the Super Bowl night with them. Food is always great there!!!Thanks!!
