Friends....who could ask for more?

I have lots of friends...I cherish my friends and cherish the "adult" conversations. As a matter of fact, I am really missing Madisyn because I at least had conversations on a teenage level when she were here! 4 days.....4 days and she will be home. You had better believe I am counting down!
Now......we have close friends and far away friends and IF you have far away friends that you have just met by chance and circumstance...if you can have an email relationship you will probably find your most loyal friend this way! Right now I could not say enough good things about my friend, Jennifer. A little over a year ago she had just received her referral of Baby Gabe. We had a layover in Atlanta while enroute to pick up our Guatemalan Princess. Her husband, Greg, came to our hotel bearing gifts for our entire family and a package for us to take to their baby Gabe. That is how our friendship started. Some may have followed up with a thank you note and left it at that, but we did not. We now send monthly packages to each other....nothing real fancy.....a few new things (minimum $...usually $1.00 bin at target), clearance items or things from around our home we never use. We send gifts for Jen, Tori and Gabe....and sometimes throw one in for Greg. Likewise....they send gifts for Me (Misty), Maddy and Lyza and sometimes a throw in for Chris! (Oh...used magazines is a great one too!). It is fun to get the package and just boost morale. Oh what fun it is to get a pkg in the mail. We tear them open like it is Christmas......cute socks, candy, books, bubbles, knick knacks, finger nail polish are some of the things found in the boxes. It is SOOO much fun and really just brightens you day.
If you can find a buddy to do this with, seriously...it is $9.00 to send a flat rate priority box with some things in it.......and trust me, dollar bin or regifting is great. Neither of us expect great things...just fun things and things we think each other will like!! Lifts the spirits more than you could know.
Another idea is just a nice card to let them know you are thinking of them......with a bookmark or some little trinket from the Bible Book Store or something.....just anything.
In today's world our boxes are filled with bills, bills, bills and there is so much negativity on the news and in the papers.....this is kinda our way to get something other than a BILL in the mail and to get the negativity out of our minds for awhile...to do something KIND for someone....something fun, something to look forward to! In turn, it has blossomed our friendship into something neither of us ever imagined it would. She bought me a webcam for my birthday...we just sit and make silly faces at each other. She lives in Georgia, I in Indiana. It will probably be many years before we meet, but it feels like we live across the street...really! We give/recieve so much useful advice about our pre-teen daughters down to the Guate-cuties we just adopted. She has kept me going on days that I was just plain out, depresses. She always has an encouraging word or two that lifts the spirits and puts me back on track~ Thank you Jen, for your friendship. It is a blessing and a gift!
